Your Mk2 Bolt Carrier Hits the StockUpdated 23 days ago

Relevant Kit Revisions

This troubleshooting is relevant to all DGA M249 kits that are 5th generation or older.

Symptoms

Your M249 Mk2-based built does not cycle fully. When you check under the feed tray cover, there is a mark on the inner portion of the stock left by the airshaft.

Causes

The Mk2 stock features a large reinforcement section in the middle that is not on the other M249 variants. This piece is in the direct path and stroke of the airshaft.

Solutions

There are two options to solve this particular issue.

  • Use a rotary tool to grind or cut a divot from the inner portion of the stock. This cutout should be at least 8mm wide and 10mm deep.
  • Install the included upper stock retention pin replacement bolts and nut. Use this option if you do not want to/cannot make the cut in the stock as outlined in the previous solution.
