The Selector Does Not FitUpdated 19 days ago
Symptoms
After modifying the selector lever to work the the Daytona kit, you try pushing it into the correct hole in the receiver and it gets stuck.
Generally, it stops at one of two points:
- The lever stops moving approximately halfway into the receiver, right at or right above the trigger and trigger sear.
- The selector moves over the trigger and sear, but does not line up with the opposite hole and so cannot be pushed all the way into position.
Causes
The primary cause of this issue is the trigger redesign from WE Tech. The Daytona kit is designed for WE's V2 Open Bolt M4/4168/888 body. WE has released a V3 Open Bolt iteration. This new generation features substantial changes to their trigger box and trigger box internals, as well as changes to the original bolt carrier.
Most of these changes focus on the bolt lock mechanism, but the trigger and sear have also been redesigned.

If any of the above points are true, you have a V3 donor and will likely encounter the issue outlined in this article.
Because the Daytona kit uses the trigger from the donor, the Daytona sear no longer sits in the correct position in the WE trigger.
This problem is evident when looking through the selector holes in the lower receiver after you have installed the Daytona trigger box. You will see a portion of the Daytona sear partially obstructing the lower portion of the selector holes.
This obstruction then blocks the selector from passing through the receiver as it should. In most cases, it will hang up on the sear. In some cases, it may pass over the sear, but then be misaligned such that it cannot be pushed through the opposite hole.
Solutions
Currently, the only solution is to remove material from the bottom of the Daytona trigger sear.
Grind, file, or sand the bottom of the trigger sear until enough material has been removed that the selector can slide properly into the lower receiver.
